True Hidden Gems &
Our Favourite Places
What’s absolutely essential to see in Gmünd? We are glad to answer this question by taking you on a short stroll. This is why: Let’s stroll through the streets together and discover the most beautiful corners of the town.
Start with the town tower and its wonderful gallery. Not only because it’s located right next to the Gasthof, but also because the Stadtturmgalerie is always worth a visit. It’s one of the most significant exhibition houses in South Austria and impresses with exhibitions from famous artists such as Maria Sibylla MERIAN (2022), Picasso (2021), the art photographer Edward Quinn (2020), J.M.W. Turner (2019), Henri Matisse (2018) and many more.
We will wander along the back streets until reaching the Pankratium – the “House of Amazement”. Here, we can give our thoughts a break and reflect on the abundance of possibilities to experiment and discover.
After a short visit to the Lodron Castle, we will wander across the main square into the picture-perfect alleys, onto the craft house, galleries and workshops, along the Kirchgasse up to the Alte Burg castle. From here, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Gmünd and the Malta – all the way to our last secret tip – the Porsche Car Museum.
Last but not least, we will treat ourselves to a sweet pastry, throw a glance at the cultural programme and reflect on the memories of the last few hours.
